Fencing for Juniors

Fencing@MQ constitution limits members to those 16 years +. If you would like to inquire about younger kids who have fenced before, please contact our coaches to discuss opportunities to train.

Senior fencers are available to lend a helping hand, however it is important that there is prior experience before free fencing, as the fencing is mostly unsupervised and a mixture of ages and genders.

For those who are keen and eager to learn a new and exciting sport Fencing@MQ offers a five week Learn to Fence course. This course is held by a former national champion and Australian representative. Over five weeks the students are taught the fundamental skill set required to free fence as part of the club.

For those with no prior experience it is essential that this learn to fence course is taken, due to safety requirements.

The youngest age we accept for kids wanting to learn to fence is 13. However, we strongly recommend they be 16 or older.
